Ottaviano — overview
Ottaviano is the stop for the Vatican: since 2007 its full name has been Ottaviano-S. Pietro-Musei Vaticani, and both St Peter's Square and the entrance to the Vatican Museums are within walking distance. It was built as the north-western terminus of Line A's first section, in service from 16 February 1980, and lost that role on 29 May 1999 with the extension to Valle Aurelia. On papal audience days and long weekends it is one of the busiest stations on the network.
