How the Metrebus fare works
The Rome Metro has a flat fare: the entire network is within the Metrebus Roma urban area, so each trip costs €1.50 with the BIT, regardless of distance. The BIT is valid for 100 minutes and includes one metro ride plus unlimited transfers on buses and trams within that time frame. With the Tap&Go (contactless card, smartphone, or smartwatch), you pay €1.50 per trip, and within a 24-hour period, the total cost for the same device never exceeds €8.50 thanks to the “best fare” applied automatically. For regional trips outside the city, however, the Metrebus Lazio zone system applies.
