Giardinetti — overview

Giardinetti station — Rome underground

Giardinetti has a history that neatly explains the shift from railway to metro: to make room for the works, the old Rome–Fiuggi halt was replaced by a new terminus right by the ring road, almost 500 metres away. Construction began in 2007 and the station opened on 9 November 2014. For years the surviving stub of the old railway kept running from here towards the centre.
